Ursula 1000

Alex Gimeno, aka Ursula 1000 has just finished up his latest album Mystics, due to be released in February 2009. Ursula 1000 returns from journeys into outer space with his fourth studio album, an epic collection of psychedelic sonic sorcery entitled Mystics!  Zig-Zagging further away from the cheeky vintage breakbeat-rhumba of previous albums, this time the Brooklyn beat-wizard ventures into tougher and more angular territory:  beats banging harder and bass popping louder.  Drawing from a variety of new influences and collaborations, Ursula 1000 delivers lethal doses of dirty booty-breaks with tracks like “Rump” featuring MC Tee Double, gothic sexcapades with “I.C.O.M.E.” featuring sex-kitten vocalist Rochelle Vincente Von K, electro-dancehall with “Step Back” featuring Jamaican toaster Sista Widey, and disco-funk filth with “Star Machine” featuring jazz-breaks producer Mocean Worker.  At once playful and dangerous, Mystics is a cry to the stars!

Ursula 1000 just stopped by TiVo to be interviewed while he was in San Francisco. To check out the YouTube video of the interview, click here.

Ursula 1000 was recently interviewed by Current TV about his eclectic music music and DJ style. To view the full interview, click here!

Ursula 1000 recently wrapped his European DJ tour, taking in Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Romania and the Netherlands. Upcoming festival dates include the unique EOLICA festival in Tenerife, Spain, and the Shambhala Music Festival located deep in British Columbia mountainside in Canada. Along with labelmates Thievery Corporation and Federico Aubele, he'll also play at the UK's Big Chill Festival in August.

Released in February, Ursula 1000's latest offering Undressed features remixed and reworked tracks from his last studio album Here Comes Tomorrow and recent singles such as Electrik Boogie and Step Back. True to form, it offers a fabulously fun variety of funked out sounds. All tracks were previously available on vinyl only. Limited-edition CD's sold out before even hitting the stores - now available as a digital release, download your copy of Undressed from our shop today!

Recent ESL remix work includes Thunderball's upcoming single "Get Up with the Get Down" and Federico Aubele's "La Esquina", available on 12" Vinyl now.
